Connemara Detailed Forecast for Sun 17 May 2026
A miserable day across Connemara with persistent rain, particularly heavy at times during the morning and early afternoon. Dense overcast skies will dominate throughout with very poor visibility in places due to low cloud and hill fog. Temperatures will struggle, reaching only 8-12C in the west and 10-15C further east, feeling colder still in the brisk westerly winds gusting 38-44 kph. The rain will turn lighter and more intermittent during the evening as winds ease slightly, but conditions will remain thoroughly damp with extensive mist and fog patches developing overnight.
Total rainfall accumulations of 10-20mm are expected across western coastal areas, with 20-32mm possible in the most exposed locations. Eastern parts may see slightly lower totals of 7-13mm. The combination of persistent rain, low cloud, hill fog, and fresh to strong westerly winds will make for very unpleasant conditions, particularly for those engaged in outdoor activities. Some brief drier interludes are possible during the afternoon, but any breaks will be short-lived.
