ABC, Disney, and Hulu decided to cancel Jimmy Kimmel when the Trump administration threatened to deny a merger if they continued airing Kimmel. Instead of pushing back against Trump, they decided to bow to the Trump administration's illegal actions.
They could have sued the administration, but they didn't.
Then something happened that Disney and Hulu, especially, hadn't anticipated: a consumer boycott from both the left and the right!
People began canceling their subscriptions en masse, and reservations for Disney World and Disney Land were also canceled.
Disney's revenue worldwide is taking a hit that they will feel.
Even some stars who work for Disney and ABC have now decided to declare their refusal to work for Disney.
Everything Trump touches is destroyed. Disney decided to bow to Trump, and now it's destroyed. And rightly so, because if a company bows to a dictator, they no longer have a right to exist in a true democracy.
Trump is very powerful as president of the US, but if consumers vote with their wallets, companies will have to seriously consider where they want to stand.
Disney shares lost only 1% of their value on Friday. I expect that loss will continue, especially once the enormous impact of the consumer boycott becomes horribly clear here.
