    So now I tried "7z e" in the zip unpacker and I have a packet in my directory but OpenXP replies with "Unable to open packet".

    Errors are good because now I know I am getting somewhere.

    The program works just my ability to decode the packets does'nt.

    My kingdom for a spell checker!

    This probably won't help with your packet problem, but you probably want to add
    these options after the 'e':

    -bd Disable progress indicator
    -y Assume Yes on all queries

    Whenever you get errors, you should exit OpenXP and have a look in DEBUGLOG.TXT in OpenXP's root directory to see if there's anything in
    there which may give a clue as to what caused the problem.

    Where is 7z.exe located, it should either be somewhere on your path or in OpenXP's root directory.

    But are you sure :)
    Is the file extension something like .th0 or .fr1 or .sa2 or what?
