I avoided paying over $150/mo by turning the lights off
At home I only use lights when needed. When I leave a room that light
goes out, unless I am planning on going back in shortly. I have bleed over from some rooms so don't need to turn on the ones in another room.
I am contracted security for the university here and man do they waste electric.
There are buildings where the lights are on 24/7/365, not counting the electronics used (copiers, pc's, etc). Lots of newish buildings don't even have on/off switches in the rooms. One building I work in has an electric
bill of $13,000 a month. And other
Once years ago in college I had a class in a large lecture hall with
floor to ceiling windows that flooded the room with light. One day I was early for class and flipped off the lights and no difference in the lighting.

One meal per day is a bad strategy.
I generally eat only one meal a day and have for years.
I was between 195 and 200 lbs for many years up until 2 years
ago.
I will sometimes not eat a meal for two days. Not total fasting, but
just no sit down meal. A bite of this and later a bite of that. I can drop a couple of pounds quickly.
Last year on vacation I was staying with a friend and her friend asked if
I were hungry. They couldn't believe me when I said "No, I just ate yesterday". I was around them for four days and knew I hadn't eaten anything.
I like to joke I'm like a snake. I'll have one big meal and not eat
again for a couple of days. :)
In Jan 2019 I reached 175 lbs. There was a bit of an
upswing to 180 6 months ago,
When I was in high school I was around 200 (at 6'1'). A couple of years later in the Navy I was 165. I stayed that way for a few years then in my
30s I gained some back and to close to 200 again. (At one time I hit 210). Now I'm around 185.
I am also active. I don't have a car (live downtown) and either walk or
ride my bike wherever I need to go, or for a distance the bus. Instead of using an elevator for a floor or two I take the stairs.
Plus I am blessed with good health and at 70 on no meds. At health
fairs nurses always say there has to be something wrong with me but all the tests I fall I in the accepted middle of the scale. :)
