    Did you ever see it actually happen, that an emergency vehicle showed
    up, needing to get into the area....?

    If some event going on that area was closed off to allow whatever into
    the area.
    Thankfully there was never a fire.
    Can't recall if an ambulance ever needed, during working hours anyway.
    I used to make a lot of people mad when the Circle and access to Old
    Main was cut off. They would be full of excuses why they HAD to park
    there. None of them where that important.
    I always got a chuckle when it was closed and someone I had talked to a
    short time before drove up, saw me, turned around and left. :)
    I would park the cart across the opening so no one could get around.
    They had a high curb to get over. (There are cut outs for HC access but
    not wide enough for a car).

    Found out that they'd not be able to outwait you (or outwit, either, for
    that matter...) ;)

    Planned properly to be able cut off access when needful... :)
