Sorry if this is off topic. (Was trying to think what the best echo to put this question in.. WITHOUT having to put it in the actual politics group because of how toxic it can be..).
I was thinkinkg about this, after reading that Margarette Cho is in
hot water due to a comment she made about a politician.
I used to love Margaette Cho routines, describing her life growing up
as 2nd generation Korean American. Then felt her routines monotenous after she became more and more political. I felt if I wanted to listen
to a political monolouge for an hour, I'd just go to a politicians fundraising dinner.
Which comedian could actually sucessfuly weave politics intor their routine and have it actually be funny. 3 come to mind for me.
1) George Carlin: Who was very outspoken about his social and political views, and his routines were HILLARIOUS!
2) Robin Williams: Another comedian who could roast the current
President and leave you in stiches.
3) Dana Carvey: Who's impersonation of George Bush Sr. was so good the Bush's invited him to the White House, anything else just, "Wouldn't be prudent at this juncture.".
Yakov Smirnoff was another. His favorite saying was "America. What a Country" When he talked politics, he was very funny, but the main point that he wanted to make was that he is much more fortunate here in the USA than he was in the Ukraine.
