    hello, i want to to install window xp on a computer and run games, will i need to update window xp in order to run games,even though microsoft does not upgrade anymore
    how can i run old program without the microsoft discontinued windowxp upgrade?

    there is a small package you can install, provided by a group of hobbyists, to restore functionality to windows update. using that you can get your machine up to the newest point possible. check out https://legacyupdate.net

    i recently put together a machine to do that too.. play some old point and click games that never made it to steam (or are incredibly broken otherwise)

    just don't use it for day-to-day stuff (casual web browsing) anymore .. up to date for xp definitely doesn't mean secure ;)

    Hi! You should be fine and Service Pack 2 has a good reputation for
    games compatibilty. You won't be able to download updates although legend has it there is a way (I have no clue how). Lots of games have drivers they need included on the CD/DVD, some do not and be prepared for difficulties although there is help out there if you run into any. Have at least a gigabyte of memory and you should be good. Bye
